How to arrange a laundry room in your house?

Laundry at home is becoming an increasingly popular solution! And no wonder! It enables easier and more efficient washing and drying of clothes, and also reduces the noise of a washing machine in the kitchen or bathroom.
What should be kept in mind when deciding to have a separate laundry room at home?

Moisture.

You must remember that in the laundry room, where clothes are washed and dried, there will be humidity, and the temperature of the room can change frequently. This is an important aspect that must be taken into account when choosing furniture, especially its specificity and the material from which it is made. It is worth choosing furniture for bathrooms that is waterproof, but also more resistant to damage or scratches.

The size of the room matters … but you can also deal with a small area!

There is a misconception that a laundry room is a luxury that only owners of large houses or flats can afford. The truth is that if we care about a small, but separate laundry room, even a separate 3m2 is enough for us, which will easily accommodate a washing machine, laundry basket and a place to store detergents.
More practical will be such a laundry room, where there is space for drying and ironing washed clothes. A minimum of 4m2 should be allocated for a laundry room that can accommodate a dryer and a worktop or place for an ironing board, and even 6-10m2 for free use of such a laundry room. If the available area is even larger, you can design an extremely practical room where, in addition to an ironing area, a washing machine and an electric dryer, you can also put hangers, shelves for chemicals and accessories or laundry segregation baskets. In such a room, washing is a pleasure!

Suitable floor and walls.

Due to the aforementioned humidity and the specificity of the room, the choice of materials used for walls and floors must be equally well-thought-out. For the wall, you can choose waterproof paint, glaze, stoneware or fibreglass wallpaper. Ceramic or stone tiles are best for the floor. An economical, but less aesthetic option is to choose a flexible floor covering.

The laundry room makes it easier to perform everyday duties and increases the aesthetics of the flat or house – everything related to washing is then hidden and does not take up space in the bathroom, kitchen or living room. Even a small laundry room will increase the comfort of using the washing machine and the rest of the rooms.
